🍷 At The Sun Places, we know that true luxury lies in the authenticity of experiences.
That's why we invite you to discover the IV Manzanilla Week, an event that transforms Sanlúcar de Barrameda into the world capital of manzanilla wine.
From 22 to 28 June 2026, this city and its most emblematic wine will be the protagonists of an unforgettable week of tastings, visits to century-old wineries and top-level gastronomic pairings.
At The Sun Places, we want this celebration to be part of your luxury stay in Sanlúcar, offering you our exclusive Luxury Apartments in Sanlúcar de Barrameda as a base to explore all the secrets that this event and the city have to offer.
Let yourself be seduced by the magic of manzanilla, a unique wine that is aged under the flor veil and only produced in this land bathed by the Atlantic and the Guadalquivir, where tradition, innovation and the best Andalusian atmosphere come together.
For seven days, more than 25 activities will take place throughout the city, offering everything from vertical tastings in historic wineries to pairings in the best restaurants of the Bajo Guía.
Each activity is designed so that attendees, from the most expert connoisseur to the curious beginner in the world of wine, discover the multiple facets of manzanilla.
From blind tastings to theatrical visits, the week offers experiences that share a common thread: the celebration of Sanlúcar's most characteristic wine, whose world day is commemorated every 26 June.
It is a golden opportunity to delve into the heart of Bodegas Delgado Zuleta, Bodegas Barbadillo, Bodegas Hidalgo and many others that open their doors to share their century-old secrets.
Moreover, the week will be experienced in every corner of Sanlúcar, from el Cabildo to La Calzada beach, creating a unique atmosphere that combines tradition, innovation and the best Andalusian spirit.
When is the IV Manzanilla Week?
The IV Manzanilla Week will take place from 22 to 28 June 2026. The chosen dates are no coincidence: 26 June is World Manzanilla Day, a day that honours this unique wine, and the Week is organised around this anniversary to concentrate the most outstanding activities that weekend.
During these seven days, Sanlúcar de Barrameda becomes the epicentre of global wine tourism, attracting expert sommeliers, specialised journalists and wine lovers.
Each day has a specific programme that combines mornings of technical tastings, afternoons of winery visits and evenings of pairings in top-level restaurants.
The highlight is usually Thursday 26 (World Manzanilla Day), with a large public tasting and a charity gala in one of the city's most emblematic squares.
Where is the IV Manzanilla Week located?
The IV Manzanilla Week takes place in multiple venues throughout Sanlúcar de Barrameda, although the heart of the event beats in three fundamental locations.
The first is the Plaza del Cabildo and the Palacio del Cabildo, where the institutional marquee for premium tastings and conferences is set up.
The second is the Bajo Guía, the historic seafaring neighbourhood where the best Casa Bigotes, Casa Balbino and other gastronomic temples are concentrated.
And the third is the wineries themselves: Bodegas Delgado Zuleta on Calle San Juan, Bodegas Barbadillo on Calle Sevilla, Bodegas Hidalgo on Calle San Martín, and Bodegas Barón.
All of them open their patios and criaderas to offer guided tastings. The event also extends to the Plaza de España, the Doñana National Park (with some wine tourism activities in nature) and the city's hotels.
Staying with The Sun Places guarantees you will be in the centre of all the activities, just a few minutes' walk from the key locations.
History of the IV Manzanilla Week
The Manzanilla Week was born in 2023 as a joint initiative of the Sanlúcar City Council, the Regulatory Council of the Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda Denomination of Origin and the city's main wineries.
Its objective was to create an international reference event that would not only promote the wine, but also the rich culture and heritage of Sanlúcar. The first edition (2023) was modest, with barely a dozen activities, but the success with the public and critics encouraged the organisers to expand it.
The II Week (2024) already had 18 activities and the participation of Bodegas Barbadillo, Bodegas Delgado Zuleta and Bodegas Hidalgo, with Bodegas Barón joining in the third edition (2025).
The IV Manzanilla Week (2026) promises to be the most ambitious: more than 30 experiences, including the first "Tasting of the history of manzanilla" with wines from 1900, thanks to the private collection of the Barbadillo family.
The event has grown alongside Sanlúcar's recognition as a Gastronomic Capital (the title was in 2022, but the prestige endures). In addition, it has established itself as the prelude to the Manzanilla Fair 2026, which takes place in August, so the June Week is the perfect opportunity for the most discerning who want to avoid the summer crowds.
Who organises the IV Manzanilla Week?
The IV Manzanilla Week is organised by the Association of Wineries of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, in collaboration with the Sanlúcar City Council, the Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin Manzanilla-Sanlúcar, the Provincial Council of Cádiz and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Andalusian Government.
They also have the sponsorship of luxury brands such as The Sun Places (official accommodation), the Wine and Brandy Route of the Marco de Jerez, and local tourism companies.
The organising committee is made up of winemakers such as Eduardo Ojeda (Barbadillo), Javier Hidalgo (Hidalgo-La Gitana) and Manuel Delgado (Delgado Zuleta), as well as gastronomic journalists.
Each winery contributes not only its best wines, but also its team of sommeliers and guides to offer high-level visits.
The organisation coordinates with the Sanlúcar Hospitality Association so that bars and restaurants create special tapas and menus paired with manzanilla.
Thanks to this collaborative work, the Manzanilla Week has become a benchmark that attracts professionals from all over Europe, with limited capacity to guarantee exclusivity.
What the IV Manzanilla Week represents for Sanlúcar, Andalusia and The Sun Places
The IV Manzanilla Week represents the consecration of Sanlúcar as a top-level wine tourism destination.
For Sanlúcar, it is the perfect showcase to display its heritage: the century-old wineries, the Manzanilla Museum, the Manolo Sanlúcar Museum and its natural jewel: the Doñana National Park.
For Andalusia, it is a boost to wine tourism within the Jerez and Sanlúcar framework, complementing events such as Vinoble 2026 and the Jerez Horse Fair.
And for The Sun Places, it represents a strategic alliance with local culture: offering our guests a luxury experience that goes beyond accommodation, immersing them in the most genuine wine tradition.
That's why our Luxury Apartments in Sanlúcar de Barrameda are equipped with a welcome bottle of manzanilla from Bodegas Hidalgo and an exclusive Week guide.
We believe that luxury is savouring a glass of manzanilla on the terrace of Restaurante Lucero while the sun sets over the Guadalquivir River.
Gastronomy and signature pairings of the IV Manzanilla Week
The IV Manzanilla Week cannot be understood without the gastronomy of Sanlúcar. Manzanilla is the perfect pairing for the products of the Bay of Cádiz and the meats from the mountains.
During the week, restaurants offer special menus that include Sanlúcar prawns, shrimp omelettes, sole, cuttlefish, sea anemones, red seabream and almadraba bluefin tuna.
Among the essential establishments are Casa Bigotes (temple of the prawn), Casa Balbino (famous for its omelettes) and the renovated Restaurante Lucero, with signature cuisine paired with aged manzanillas.
Many wineries organise vertical pairings: the same manzanilla in different vintages accompanying different preparations of the same dish. There are also cheese tastings from the Sierra de Cádiz with manzanilla, and a tapas competition "Manzanilla and Tapa" where bars from the Bajo Guía compete for the best creation.
