⛳The History of Golf in Seville: A tradition born in 1932
Although Seville today has internationally renowned courses, its origins in the world of golf date back to the early 20th century. The prestigious golf course architect Harry Shapland Colt, known for designing masterpieces such as the Wentworth Club in England, was involved in the project of a golf course in the Tablada area of Seville. This initiative arose as part of the preparations for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition.
The next step was the creation of the now-defunct Real Club Tablada and Real Sociedad de Carreras de Caballo. It was in 1932 when the members of these clubs joined forces to carry out an initiative that, sadly, was met with the brake of the Civil War.
It was not until 1940, once the war conflict was over, that Club Pineda de Sevilla was officially established in the so-called Cortijo de Pineda, three kilometres from the city. The following year, construction began on the course, which at that time had only 9 holes.
For many years, until the inauguration of the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla in 1991, Club Pineda was the only golf course in the entire province.
