South International Series Festival 2026 in Cádiz

South International Series Festival 2026 in Cádiz

📺 From 30 October to 4 November, the capital of Cádiz will host the fourth edition of the South International Series Festival, the great audiovisual event of the year in Andalusia. Six days in which the Tacita de Plata will be transformed into a global showcase for the series industry, with more than 30 titles programmed and 18 premieres.

The event, produced by Womack Group, has the Provincial Council and the City Council as official entities, consolidating the city as an essential set and key meeting point for stars of the international scene. An event that combines the glamour of red carpets with the professional rigour of industry sessions.

At The Sun Places we want you to experience this unique event from within. That's why we invite you to discover the programme, the guests and the venues of the South International Series Festival, staying in our Luxury Apartments in Cádiz, located in the heart of the city, near the Gran Teatro Falla, the Cathedral of Cádiz and the Barrio del Pópulo.

✨   The festival is not just a cycle of screenings. It is a celebration of audiovisual culture that brings together creators, actors and audiences in a privileged setting. As the organisation says, international connection is developed through different actions that favour synergy between creators from around the world.

📅 South Series 2026: Opening Gala and Honorary Awards

The festival will kick off in style on the night of 30 October with an opening gala at the Gran Teatro Falla, presented by journalist María Gómez. At that same ceremony, the Honorary Award will be presented to British screenwriter Ronan Bennett, responsible for titles such as 'Top Boy', 'Chacal' or 'Tierra de Mafiosos'.

This year's recognitions have a marked national and international accent. Actress Ana Duato will collect her honorary award on the night of 2 November, while the acclaimed Álvaro Morte, the Algeciras-born star of 'La casa de papel', will do the same on the night of 3 November, just before the big screenings.

As a prelude to the festival, journalists Mariola Cubells and María Guerra will star in the show 'Señoras y señoras' on Thursday 29 October at the Teatro del Títere La Tía Norica.

🎞️ Premieres of the South International Series Festival 2026

The Official Fiction Section will feature eight titles, including two major world premieres. The first is 'Alguien debería prohibir los domingos por la tarde', the new creation by Isabel Coixet, who will come to the city together with actress Liv Henneguier before its run on SundanceTV. The series follows Louise, an aspiring filmmaker who arrives in Paris thanks to a scholarship and discovers a city very different from the one she imagined.

The second major world premiere is 'Infamia', an HBO Max thriller starring Susana Abaitua. The series tells the story of Emma Cruz, a lawyer who becomes obsessed with the disappearance of two girls that occurred twenty years earlier.

The closing of the event, on 4 November, promises to be one of the most awaited moments with the world premiere of the eagerly awaited second season of 'Física o Química: La nueva generación', with the return of Angy Fernández to the screen.

'Patagonia' will also be presented, the new Movistar Plus series starring Itziar Ituño, which follows a mother who travels from the Basque Country to Chilean Patagonia in search of her son.

🎬 South Section: The Andalusian Accent of the Festival

The Teatro del Títere La Tía Norica will host the six proposals of the South Section, a section that brings together fiction and documentary linked to Andalusia with stories that travel through its culture, its landscapes and its memory.

Among the most outstanding titles is 'La más grande', the documentary series about Rocío Jurado that traces the career of an artist who reflected the evolution of Spain, from the post-war folk singer to a free and vindictive woman. 'La Nena' will also be screened, the third instalment of the 'La novia gitana' saga, with the return of Nerea Barros as inspector Elena Blanco.

Fiction will be represented by 'El cuco de cristal', an adaptation of Javier Castillo's novel, and 'Olivia', a family series set in the world of olive oil for Disney+.

📽️ Documentaries and Special Screenings of South Series

The Official Non-Fiction Section includes titles of great relevance. One of those that will appeal most to nostalgia will be 'Tuenti', the Movistar Plus and RTVE production that recovers the history of the social network that marked a whole generation. 'Mágico' will also be screened, the docuseries dedicated to legendary Salvadoran footballer Jorge Alberto González, an icon deeply linked to the city.

Out of competition, 'Ricardi. El culpable perfecto' will be shown, a heartbreaking documentary about the case of Rafael Ricardi, the resident of El Puerto de Santa María who spent years in prison while innocent.

Music will also have its space in the new 'Special Screenings' section with 'Antoñito Molina: Un sueño. Del chiringuito al estadio', a documentary feature film that will trace the artistic career of the singer from Rota.
