💃 There are sounds that define a city. The tapping of heels, the lament and the flamenco guitar are the heartbeat of Cádiz. And this summer, that heartbeat sounds louder than ever with Flamencad 2026, the flamenco cycle that turns Thursday evenings in Cádiz during summer into a unique and unforgettable experience.
At The Sun Places we want you to experience this flamenco experience from the inside.
That's why we invite you to discover the programme, the artists and the magic of Flamencad 2026, staying at our Luxury Apartments in Cádiz, located in the heart of the capital, near the Gran Teatro Falla, the Cádiz Cathedral and La Caleta Beach.
✨ Flamencad 2026 celebrates its fifth year with institutional support from the Provincial Council and the City Council of Cádiz.
The cycle, which was born in 2021 as "Cádiz Flamenco" and adopted the name Flamencad in 2022 to give it greater universality, has become one of the most important flamenco events of the Andalusian summer.
Four themed Thursdays, with top-level artists, that recover the tradition of the historic Thursday Flamenco events that have been held in the capital since the 20th century.
The programme for Flamencad 2026 was presented at the Provincial Palace by the deputy and vice-president of the Provincial Culture Foundation, Vanesa Beltrán, together with the promoter and co-director of the festival, Curro Velázquez-Gaztelu, and the participating artists.
Beltrán highlighted the festival's commitment to the fusion of established and emerging artists, the balance between traditional and contemporary flamenco, and the inclusion of a space dedicated to female artists within the programme. A clear commitment to diversity and artistic excellence.
📅 Flamencad 2026 Programme: Four Thursdays of Legend
Flamencad 2026 will take place on 9, 16 and 30 July, and 13 August. All performances will take place at the Baluarte de la Candelaria at 10:00 pm. Four nights, four unique proposals that cover the different flamenco styles.
🎸 9 July: Tomatito opens Flamencad 2026 with a legendary guitar
The opening night of Flamencad 2026 is, without a doubt, one of the most anticipated. The legendary guitarist Tomatito, born in Almería but adopted by universal flamenco, will be in charge of opening the cycle. Known for his long collaboration with Camarón de la Isla, Tomatito is one of the most important figures in contemporary flamenco.
On this night of Flamencad 2026, Tomatito will be accompanied by singers Morenito de Íllora and Kiki Cortiñas, guitarist José del Tomate and percussionist Joni Cortés.
A luxury line-up that promises an unforgettable night, where Tomatito's guitar and the singing of his accompanying artists will merge into a performance that will remain in the memory of those attending. Tomatito's concert, described as "A Guitar of Universal Legacy", is one of the highlights of Flamencad 2026.
🎤 16 July: The Maturity of the Cante of Flamenco Lineages
The second Thursday of Flamencad 2026, on 16 July, is dedicated to The Maturity of the Cante of Flamenco Lineages. A night that focuses on two artists from the province of Cádiz: Jesús Méndez and Alonso Núñez 'Rancapino Chico'.
Both performers represent important lineages of flamenco families and bring extensive experience to the stage. Jesús Méndez, one of the most important singers of the moment, and Rancapino Chico, heir to one of the most important flamenco dynasties in Cádiz, will offer a night of pure cante, where tradition and mastery go hand in hand.
Flamencad 2026 thus bets on root flamenco, the one that is passed down from generation to generation.
💃 30 July: Love Flamenco, dance as the protagonist
On 30 July, Flamencad 2026 dresses up in dance with the show Love Flamenco. A production that pays homage to the traditional roots of flamenco, presenting them through a contemporary stage format.
The cast of Love Flamenco at Flamencad 2026 brings together some of the best dancers of the moment: El Turry, Ezequiel Montoya, Marcos de Silva, Juan José Villar, Juan Fernández, Vero La India, Fuensanta Blanco and Cheyenne.
A night where footwork, arms and body expression become pure poetry, in a show that promises to move the audience at the Baluarte de la Candelaria.
👩 13 August: Women, Youth and Flamencas, the crowning glory
The crowning glory of Flamencad 2026 will come on 13 August with Women, Youth and Flamencas, a programme entirely dedicated to female artists. The night, presented by Valeria Reyes, will feature the voices of Reyes Carrasco and Esmeralda Rancapino as headliners.
During the presentation of Flamencad 2026, Reyes underlined the importance of initiatives that increase the visibility and recognition of women within the history of flamenco.
A necessary demand in an art form that has traditionally been dominated by male figures. Flamencad 2026 thus closes its edition with a firm commitment to equality and female talent, demonstrating that flamenco is also a women's thing.
🏛️ The Baluarte de la Candelaria: the perfect stage for Flamencad 2026
The Baluarte de la Candelaria, built in 1672, is one of the most emblematic spaces in Cádiz.
Its walls, which for centuries protected the city from enemy attacks, now protect culture and flamenco art. Flamencad 2026 chooses this historic setting to offer an intimate and unique experience, where flamenco merges with the sea breeze and the history of the place.
The Flamencad 2026 cycle, with its name that evokes the universality of flamenco made in Cádiz, is the heir to the historic Thursday Flamenco events that have been held in the capital since the 20th century.
A tradition that is renewed every summer, offering the public the opportunity to enjoy the most authentic flamenco in an incomparable setting.
