🎭 The Gran Teatro Falla: the heart of Carnival
It's impossible to talk about the Cádiz Carnival without mentioning its epicenter: the Gran Teatro Falla and where to enjoy Tapas at the Cádiz Carnival.
This emblematic Neo-Mudéjar building, constructed of red brick with its characteristic horseshoe arches, has been the temple of Carnival songs since 1910. Throughout January and February, its 1,214 seats, boxes, and the popular "paradise" hosted the Official Carnival Groups Competition (COAC), where choirs, chirigotas, comparsas, and quartets dazzled audiences with their artistry.
Last night, the Falla Theatre experienced its most magical night with the Grand Final of the 2026 COAC, which lasted until the early hours and crowned the best groups of the year. And tonight, the theater will reopen its doors so that those who couldn't enjoy the competition can do so at the Grand Carnival Gala.
🎭 Today's schedule for the Cádiz Carnival 2026, Saturday, February 14th.
From 1:00 PM. The atmosphere starts to heat up with the Choir Parades through the city center streets. The choirs "Los Matarratas" and "Los Gipsy Kay" will parade from Plaza Catedral to Plaza Candelaria, bringing music throughout the historic center, and THE SUN PLACES offers you its favorite spots for tapas during the Cádiz Carnival.
At midday: The "Battles of Songs" take over key locations: Central Market, Plaza del Palillero, Plaza Catedral, and Plaza San Francisco. The semifinalist groups of the 2026 COAC (Official Carnival Competition of Cádiz) will face off in the streets with their best repertoire.
8:30 p.m. – Carnival Opening Ceremony: San Antonio Square hosts the opening ceremony, delivered by Manu Sánchez, the popular Sevillian comedian and presenter who this year has the honor of officially kicking off the festivities.
10:00 p.m. – Grand Carnival Gala: At the Gran Teatro Falla, performances by the first-place winners of the 2026 COAC adult competition. A must-see for fans of traditional Spanish songs.
From 10:30 p.m. – Carnival Nights in the Streets: The competition's first-place winners will also perform live in the La Viña neighborhood, San Antonio Square, and San Francisco Square. The party is in full swing.
