The work was inspired by the world of sevillanas, incorporating lyrics by the famous composer Pareja Obregón and the image of a guitar as central elements.
The Seville April Fair 2025 was finally held from 6th to 11th May, due to the late celebration of Holy Week, with the traditional "Lunes del Pescaíto" (Fried Fish Monday) taking place on 5th May.

👨🎨 The author: Davide Gambini repeats success
The person responsible for shaping this gateway has been the Italian architect Davide Gambini, who already designed the 2024 Fair gateway and has once again won the public design competition.
Gambini, born in Vigevano (Italy) in 1991, has been passionate about Seville since he was an Erasmus student at the ETSA (Higher Technical School of Architecture) during the 2014-2015 academic year. After finishing his studies, he moved permanently to the Sevillian capital, where he has developed a career linked to architecture and design.

The Pavilion of Portugal, protagonist
The central element of the gateway is a reinterpretation of the Pavilion of Portugal from the 1929 Exhibition, originally designed by the Portuguese brothers Carlos and Guilherme Rebelo de Andrade. This building, with its marked neobaroque character inspired by the João V style, was built in its day with Portuguese materials and artists, and will now preside over the entrance to the Fairgrounds.
The Pavilion of Charles V and the 500th anniversary of a royal wedding
The second great inspiring element is the Pavilion of Charles V in the Real Alcázar. Gambini has incorporated the ornamentation of its tiles into the design, establishing a dialogue between the ephemeral architecture of the gateway and the city's historical heritage.
The author himself explained the meaning of his proposal: "I wanted to follow the thread of '29, adding the Pavilion of Charles V to commemorate the fifth centenary of the emperor's wedding to Isabella of Portugal, testimony to Seville's role as a crossroads".
Recovering monumentality
The gateway recovers a format not seen since 2019: a large central tower taller than the side sections, accompanied by two side towers and five connecting arches, reinforcing the feeling of monumentality and recovering the proportions of the old pavilions from the 1929 exhibition.
🛠️ Construction: New times, new companies
A curious detail surrounding The Poster for the Gateway of the Seville April Fair 2026 is that, for the first time in 57 years, its construction will not be carried out by the company Ferrovial. The construction company Heliopol, part of the Rusvel group, has been commissioned to erect this ephemeral structure. Assembly will begin around 16th January 2026.
