Seville is preparing for a new edition of its most anticipated event for lovers of books with history. The Seville Antiquarian and Second-hand Book Fair 2024 returns from September 26 to October 13 to Plaza de San Francisco, recovering the emblematic space that already hosted its first editions.
The mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, and the president of the Association of Friends of the Antiquarian Book, Milagrosa Díaz, have signed a collaboration agreement that guarantees the celebration of this fair, one of the longest-running and most stable cultural events in the city.

In 1985, when the Association of Friends of the Antiquarian Book was founded, the fair was already held in this same square. Now, almost four decades later, it returns to its origins in a decision full of symbolism.
Plaza de San Francisco, the institutional heart of the city, will host the booths of the participating bookshops for more than two weeks, creating a meeting space between the antiquarian book and the people of Seville.

On Wednesday, October 9, it will be possible to access the Rare Book Collection and Historical Archive of the Library of the University of Seville (Avda. de la Guardia Civil, s/n) to see first-hand printed copies and manuscripts from the 15th to 19th centuries, as well as documents related to the history of the University.
The tour will be guided by the institution's team, which will show a selection of:
- Nearly one hundred thousand early printed books
All of this constitutes the written memory of the institution and a unique opportunity for lovers of antiquarian books.
Visits to the Institución Colombina
In collaboration with the Institución Colombina, guided tours will also be offered to learn about the collection and the work carried out by this entity that guards valuable bibliographic collections related to Christopher Columbus and the history of Seville.
