The Madrid Jazz Festival extends across numerous venues in the city, but its main venues are:

🎤  The International Jazz Day cycle in Madrid (28 April to 3 May)

In addition to the great autumn festival, Madrid celebrates the International Jazz Day in spring, a UNESCO and Herbie Hancock Institute initiative commemorated on 30 April.

Between 28 April and 3 May 2026, the capital hosted a cycle of concerts in nine jazz clubs and venues, with 18 performances by artists such as Justking Jones, Pleito, New Jazz Underground, Juan Sebastián Jazz Trio, Javier Colina & Miguel Siso, Alein Steinbert & Álex Cobos, Minino Bravo, Jazztaria, Jack Broadbent, Cañete-Figueredo-Barroso Jazz Trío, Hemisferios + Estela Julia, África Gallego Project, Anita Dondorff Trío, Organ Bongo Trio, Maom Quartet, Flamenco Standards and Pere Bujosa Trio.

The history of the Madrid Jazz Festival dates back to 2014, when Madrid City Council, through the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport and Madrid Destino, decided to create a major event dedicated to jazz that could compete with the most prestigious European festivals.

The first edition was held at the Teatro Fernán Gómez, with a modest but high-quality programme. The success was immediate, and the festival grew year after year, both in number of concerts and participating venues.

In 2025, in its eleventh edition, JAZZMADRID reached 230 concerts and more than 62,000 spectators, establishing itself as the most important jazz festival in Spain.

The Madrid Jazz Festival has managed to maintain a balance between defending jazz tradition and opening up to more innovative currents, offering each year a programme that reflects the creative diversity of the international and national scene.

In addition, the festival has incorporated parallel activities such as conferences, film screenings, masterclasses and family programmes, making it a total cultural event.

🎭  Who organises the Madrid Jazz Festival 2026?

The Madrid Jazz Festival 2026 is organised by the Government Area of Culture, Tourism and Sport of Madrid City Council, through the Teatro Fernán Gómez.

Centro Cultural de la Villa and Madrid Destino. The festival counts on the collaboration of Villanos del Jazz, the Madrid en Vivo concert venue association, and the Círculo de Bellas Artes, among others.

It also receives support from various national and international cultural institutions, such as the French Institute of Madrid and the Polish Institute of Culture, which facilitate the participation of foreign artists.

The artistic direction of the festival is led by journalist and music critic Luis Martín.
