And to make your experience perfect, there's nothing like staying with us in our Luxury Apartments in Seville. As a taster, we invite you to read our guide to Seville's restaurants and the Tapa Route in Seville 2026.
Corpus Christi Seville 2026 is one of the most important religious festivals with the deepest roots in the Andalusian capital.
Unlike most Spanish dioceses, which moved this solemnity to Sunday, Seville maintains its celebration on Thursday, as instituted in the Late Middle Ages, along with Granada and Toledo.
This year, the date falls on 4th June, sixty days after Easter Sunday. The Eucharistic procession runs through the main streets of the old town with the magnificent Custodia de Arfe as its great protagonist, accompanied by thousands of faithful, brotherhoods, and authorities.
The Sun Places wishes to participate with the General Council of Brotherhoods and Guilds to offer our most humble collaboration, so that the effect of tourism —to which we belong— does not negatively affect our beloved Seville.

⛪ The Custodia de Arfe and the nine paso floats of Corpus Christi Seville 2026
Corpus Christi Seville 2026 features a total of nine paso floats that make up the extensive procession.
Among them are the images of Santa Ángela de la Cruz, Santas Justa y Rufina, San Isidoro, San Leandro, San Fernando, the Immaculate Conception, the Baby Jesus, and the "small" custodia that carries the relic of the Holy Thorn.
But the great protagonist is the Custodia de Arfe, an impressive Renaissance silverwork piece created by Juan de Arfe in the 16th century that guards the Blessed Sacrament. Its exit into the street is the most anticipated moment for the faithful, who kneel as it passes as a sign of adoration.
One of the most unique traditions of this day is the opening of the procession by the "niños carráncanos" of the Sacramental del Sagrario, who are in charge of "starting" the procession.
They are followed by the Seises, whose dance before the High Altar is one of the most emotional moments of the morning and a tradition dating back to the 17th century.
Historic sounds are also revived thanks to the performance of the early music group Ministriles Hispalensis, who will play during the procession in Plaza de San Francisco.
🎭 2026 New features: Altars, pennants and technology to follow the Corpus
Corpus Christi Seville 2026 comes loaded with new features. This year sees the debut of 96 red pennants with inscriptions from the Cathedral Chapter and the Cathedral Custodia, designed by José Manuel Peña to adorn the streets along the route.
The double-sided façades in Plaza de San Francisco are dedicated to the brotherhoods of Montserrat and El Amparo.
The municipal competition for altars, balconies, and shop windows has reached a record level of participation, with 40 installations spread throughout the itinerary: 14 altars, 6 balconies, and 21 shop windows.
Among the most notable altars are those of the Brotherhood of Montserrat (Avenida de la Constitución), La Hiniesta and La Macarena (Plaza de San Francisco), La Redención and El Amparo (Sierpes), Las Siete Palabras (Plaza del Salvador), and La Cena (Cardenal Carlos Amigo Vallejo).
The main technological new feature is the inclusion of a specific Corpus Christi section in the municipal Sevilla App.
This tool will allow you to follow the real-time geolocation of the procession, consult the official poster, the façades, the complete programme of events, and access an interactive map with the location of all participating altars, balconies, and shop windows.

📜 History of Corpus Christi in Seville: The origin of a centuries-old tradition
Corpus Christi Seville 2026 is a continuation of a tradition dating back to the Late Middle Ages. The feast dedicated to the Body and Blood of Christ was instituted by Pope Urban IV in 1264 and was celebrated on the sixtieth day after Easter Sunday, always on a Thursday.
In the 20th century, the Church moved the liturgical solemnity to the following Sunday in most Spanish dioceses, but Seville, together with Granada and Toledo, decided to keep the procession on its original day due to the historical and popular roots of the festival.
For centuries, Corpus Christi became the most solemn and spectacular celebration in the city, with processions that even included dragons and big-headed figures among ephemeral altars.
Today, Corpus Christi remains one of the "three Thursdays that shine brighter than the sun" in Seville's sayings, alongside Maundy Thursday and Ascension Thursday.
