It all began in 1976, when Francisco López Canís founded Club de Gourmets magazine, the first publication specialising in gastronomy, wine and travel. Eleven years later, in 1987, he organised the first edition of the Salón de Gourmets at the Casa de Campo Convention Centre in Madrid, with 76 exhibitors and 8,000 visitors. That initial success has become a European benchmark.
Today, the Salón de Gourmets 2026 is the essential meeting point for quality food professionals. In 1992 it was declared an international event, and in 2007 it was recognised as an Official Trade Fair of the Community of Madrid. Since 2009 it has been held at IFEMA.
