🎨 At The Sun Places, luxury is inspired by beauty and creativity.
That's why we have chosen Cadaqués and the legacy of Salvador Dalí, a unique destination where art, the sea and tranquillity merge in a dreamlike landscape.
Stay in our Luxury Accommodation on the Costa Brava and discover the white village that enchanted the surrealist genius.
There are villages that seem to come out of a dream. Cadaqués and the legacy of Salvador Dalí is one of them. Its whitewashed houses, steep streets and turquoise bay have fascinated travellers, artists and dreamers for decades.
But it was Salvador Dalí who turned this corner of the Alt Empordà into a myth. Here he lived, loved, painted and found the peace he needed to create some of the most important works of the 20th century.
Today we invite you to explore Cadaqués and the legacy of Salvador Dalí, to feel the magic of its landscapes and to live a luxury experience that connects art, nature and gastronomy.
🌊 What does Cadaqués and the legacy of Salvador Dalí represent for the region and for The Sun Places?
Cadaqués and the legacy of Salvador Dalí represent the purest connection between art and nature.
For the Empordà, it is a symbol of cultural identity, a place that has inspired poets, painters and musicians.
For Catalonia, it is one of the most emblematic tourist destinations, but also one of the best preserved thanks to its isolation and the protection of its environment.
And for The Sun Places, Cadaqués and the legacy of Salvador Dalí embody the luxury of creativity and peace: the luxury of walking through the streets that inspired a genius, of sleeping in a village without rush, of contemplating a sunset from a terrace with sea views.
Our Luxury Accommodation on the Costa Brava are located a short distance from Cadaqués, and we can arrange exclusive experiences for you such as private visits to the House-Museum, boat trips around the bay or dinners at Restaurant Compartir.
We are committed to cultural, relaxed and exclusive tourism.
🏠 The Portlligat House-Museum: the heart of Cadaqués and the legacy of Salvador Dalí
The Portlligat House-Museum is the epicentre of Cadaqués and the legacy of Salvador Dalí. Here the painter lived from 1930 until 1982, and here he created some of his most important works.
The building is a labyrinth of small fishermen's huts that Dalí joined and renovated over the years. Every corner is a surprise: the studio with the famous oval dome, the library, the phallus-shaped swimming pool, the garden with exotic plants and the painting workshop.
The visit is an immersion into the personal universe of the genius. It is recommended to book well in advance, as capacity is limited (maximum 50 people every half hour).
The light of Portlligat, that Mediterranean light that so fascinated Dalí, can be felt in every room. It is an intimate, almost magical experience.

🏞️ The landscape of Cadaqués and Cap de Creus: the settings of Salvador Dalí's legacy
Dalí did not only paint in Cadaqués. He painted the landscape of Cadaqués. The wind-eroded rocks, the hidden coves, the transparent waters, the changing lights of the sunset. All of that appears in his paintings.
The Cap de Creus Natural Park, located right next to Cadaqués, is an almost lunar landscape. The rock formations (the "elephant", the "monk", the "cathedral") seem to come out of a surrealist dream.
From the Cap de Creus lighthouse, the view of the sea and the coast is spectacular. It is the ideal place for a private boat trip at sunset.
It is also worth walking the Camí de Ronda that connects Cadaqués with Portlligat (about 20 minutes on foot) or climbing up to the Sant Pere viewpoint, from where the most famous photo of the village is taken.

If you like the sea, remember that a short distance away are the Medes Islands, a paradise for diving and snorkelling, also very close to the Montgrí Natural Park, which we already explored in our guide Montgrí Natural Park and the Pals rice fields.
🍽️ Gastronomy in Cadaqués: Compartir and other temples of good food
Cadaqués is not only art and landscape. It is also a top-level gastronomic destination.
Restaurant Compartir, founded by three former El Bulli chefs (Mateu Casañas, Oriol Castro and Eduard Xatruch), is one of the most coveted tables on the Costa Brava. Its cuisine is creative, playful and deeply Mediterranean. It is essential to book months in advance.
Other haute cuisine establishments in the village are Can Rafa (rice and fish dishes), Es Portitxol (seafood cuisine on the beach) and El Barroc (traditional cuisine with modern touches).
For a more informal but equally exclusive experience, the beach bars of Cadaqués serve quality tapas and cocktails at sunset.

🏛️ What to see near Cadaqués: Figueres, Púbol and the luxury Dalí route
Salvador Dalí's legacy is not limited to Cadaqués. A few kilometres away there are two essential places to complete the experience:
- Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres: the genius's masterpiece, a surrealist building that houses the largest collection of his works. An essential visit.
- Púbol Castle: the Gothic castle that Dalí gave to his muse Gala, where she lived and was buried. A place full of symbolism and mystery.
Soon we will publish specific guides on Púbol Castle and Luxury Dalí Route. For now, we recommend organising a full day with a private transfer to visit the three museums (Cadaqués, Figueres, Púbol).
If you like medieval history, remember that very close to the Montgrí are The Medieval Villages of the Empordà (Peratallada, Vulpellac, Cruïlles, Madremanya), ideal for a cultural getaway.
